After discovering Scully's badge case on the river bank, near a deserted car riddled with bullets, Mulder launches an urgent search with the limited resources of the county Sheriff's department. Meanwhile, Scully and Skinner, find themselves stranded in the Wyoming wilderness and bickering with their unbearable prisoner in tow.
